Sand Ceremony
A sand pouring ceremony is where the couple will each pour sand from a small glass container, into a larger one. It is a simple & effective ritual to symbolise the coming together of a couple during a wedding ceremony. With each grain of sand representing their life's journey prior to the wedding, the blending of the sand represents the steadfast nature of the new life that lies ahead for them both, as a couple, and as a family.

You may choose to buy different coloured sands from a craft shop. However, for a more personal or Scottish feel, you could use sand from a location which is meaningful to you both, such as from a golden beach in the Hebrides, Carnoustie, Millport, or even Portobello. In fact, if your lovestruck eyes met within the builders yard of a DIY store, you could always grab a bag of sharp sand!
